Creative & Calm: An Introduction to Neurographic Art

July 17 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

$45.00

The class will begin with a short description of the concepts behind creating art using this technique as well as viewing some examples created by the instructor. Materials, which will consist of Sharpie markers, art board, and art markers will be distributed. A short moment of focus and intention for the piece will start the session. Neurographic drawing requires no previous art experience but can be used to great effect by both novice and skilled artists. It is a wonderfully creative practice that is both mentally relaxing and rewarding and which can help free up both creative and emotional blocks.

The Haywood County Arts Council is happy to announce its latest exhibit, Textures, showcasing a rich tapestry of artistic mediums including ceramics, woodwork, felt, mosaic, fabric, macrame, collage, and more. This diversified exhibition promises to have something for every art enthusiast.

The exhibit kicks off with an Opening Reception on Friday, July 5th from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, coinciding with Art After Dark. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the talented artists, enjoy complimentary beverages, and take in this latest body of textural work.

Exhibiting artist Lindsay Keeling shares her inspiration: “My abstract landscapes are inspired by the peacefulness of nature. I capture this feeling through an exploration of color, contrast, and texture. My art is an invitation to pause and appreciate the beauty.”

“We’re thrilled to offer such a wide variety of classes to our community, all taught by local artists,” says HCAC Executive Director, Tonya Harwood.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to experience the dynamic art scene in Haywood County this July. For more information about the Textures exhibit, Creation Classes, and other events, please visit https://haywoodarts.org/creation-classes/ or contact director@haywoodarts.org.
