2024 Mountain Hort Field Day 75th Anniversary Celebration

August 15 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

We’re hosting our 2024 Mountain Hort. Field Day to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Mountain Horticultural Crops Research Station, founded in Mills River, NC, in 1949. The event will occur at 74 Research Drive, Mills River, NC 28759, on Thursday, August 15th, beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 4 pm.

Research at MHCREC is one of the leading horticultural and agricultural research efforts in North Carolina. The 2023 research program included 115 research projects in tomato breeding, ornamental breeding, insect control in fruit and vegetable crops, disease investigations in fruit and ornamental crops, crop management, extension programs, and more. Crops grown at MHCREC include tomatoes, woody ornamentals, decorative bushes, apples, peaches, cucurbits, blackberries, peppers, soybeans, corn, industrial hemp, hops, herbs, and greenhouse production. We are deeply grateful for your interest and support, and our fantastic staff and team of scientists welcome you to explore and celebrate this big day with us.

The event will take place at 74 Research Drive, Mills River, NC 28759, on Thursday, August 15th, beginning at 8 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m. Come for the entire day or pick just a portion of the day to join us.
