Nick Chandler

Bluegrass and gospel musician Weaverville, NC (Buncombe County)

Reviewing Nick Chandler’s new solo CD Saturday Night Pickin’, Sunday Morning Singin’, Dennis Jones of Spindale’s WNCW says that “he may be new to the national bluegrass scene, but Nick Chandler won’t remain unknown for long.” The young mandolinist, singer, and gospel songwriter from Weaverville has been the North Carolina state mandolin champion four times, and has won the equivalent award in Georgia as well. He was a member of Asheville Grass, and a founding member of the bluegrass gospel band Silvercreek, in which he played with Mountain Heart’s Barry Abernathy and Barry Scott of Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver. He has recorded with fiddler Bobby Hicks, as well as with Tony Rice and the Statler Brothers’ Jimmy Fortune.

Chandler’s previous CD, Bring Me Up, is a collection of ten bluegrass gospel songs. The songs are all his own original compositions, but are so firmly rooted in the classic bluegrass tradition that, without reading the song credits, one might easily assume that they were first recorded sixty years ago by the founding generation of bluegrass artists.

Chandler also performs as a gospel artist. His music can be heard on Sirius satellite radio and many standard frequencies, and his videos are in rotation on the Gospel Music Television Network.

Availability

Nick Chandler is available to perform with his band Delivered, and to perform gospel and bluegrass music solo and with other friends. He will also consider requests for demonstrations and classroom programs.
